    Councilmember Jason Winston will host a District 1 town hall Thursday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 17 Meldon Avenue SE. The meeting will provide residents with an overview of public safety matters in the district.

    During the town hall, the Atlanta Police Department will provide information on the department's policing efforts, the neighborhood watch program, and code enforcement issues. The Department of Public Works will provide information on illegal dumping, their work alongside Atlanta police in code enforcement, and the department's efforts with the Solid Waste Education and Enforcement Team, or SWEET. The Department of Planning will provide information on recognizing and reporting zoning issues and how this can contribute to public safety.

    The town hall will aim to cover how city officials are addressing the most prevalent issues for the area, frequently made requests, how departments are addressing them, and ways in which residents can support the City of Atlanta through programs such as the neighborhood watch and reporting problems in the community.
