1,500 Runners and Walkers Expected at Atlantic Station
for The Junior League of Atlanta, Inc.’s 14th Annual Race
Runners and walkers hit the streets on Saturday, March 17, 2018 for The Junior League of Atlanta, Inc.’s (JLA) 14th Annual Shamrock ‘N Roll Road Race held at Atlantic Station in the heart of Midtown Atlanta.
One of Atlanta’s favorite stroller and dog friendly races, this year the Shamrock ‘N Roll Race kicks off the Atlantic Station St. Patty's Day Festivities. A USATF certified and Peachtree Road Race qualifier course, the race begins at 8:30 a.m. with the 5K & 10K, Kids Fun Run at 10:00 a.m. and concludes with the Family Fun Festival complete with an awards ceremony, music and fun in the vendor village located in Atlantic Station’s Central Park. “The Shamrock ‘N Roll Road race supports the JLA’s mission to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women and improve the Atlanta community,” said Rebekah Henry Murphy, President of the Junior League of Atlanta. “All proceeds from the Shamrock ‘N Roll Road Race are used to financially aid projects and programs of the JLA’s area community partners and to train and educate our members for effective community service. As we celebrate 101 years serving the Atlanta community, we are thankful for the community support that has allowed us to transform our community through the action of trained volunteers.”
The JLA’s Shamrock ‘N Roll kicks off the spring season on a festive note. The certified course takes runners through scenic areas, starting and finishing in Atlantic Station. Runners dash through the finish line with a skyline view of picturesque downtown Atlanta and into a Shamrock’n after race party in the center of Atlantic Station. The race begins at 17th Street sending runners to explore the heart of West Midtown and ends back on 18th Street where the Family Fun Festival will kick off. Sponsors of the 14th Annual Shamrock ‘N Roll Road Race include Verizon, Northside Hospital, Meeky Hirst - State Farm Agent and West Stride. Medals are awarded for the first through third place finishers of the race in each age group, with special prizes for the top finishers in the team, stroller, and dog groups.
